apple? seriously?
i guess that is what i get for being a loyal apple customer who was willing to buy first generation. i won't say that i didn't know there might be changes in the not so distant future, but i was thinking say 6 months and i would be pretty cool about that. but a $200 price drop in 2 months? you can call me a sucker. i know the reasoning behind it makes sense, they need to sell more phones. but really? did they think about all the loyal fans who waited in lines and shelled out the cash would be happy about that? i mean as if it wasn't bad enough that i had to settle for AT&Ts edge network and wait over 12 hours to activate the thing.
oh well lesson learned. i still love my iphone, just 33% less now :)

you HAD to know it was coming. I mean apple lost money...AT & T made more money out of their deal, so they are trying to back out of the contract and a 16 yr old cracked the damn thing in like what an hour. So poor Steve Jobs is just trying to make up for all that. Plus they did say it was time for a major vamp in ipods since sales were DOWN the last 8 months
nat likes his iphone too..i'm poor and have a cardboard iphone i can call you on
Well I could go on and on about how much I hate Apple. I won't. I'll just say I feel your pain.
It's all part of the marketing. Unfortunately they can get away with it because people want their products so much. This isn't a bad thing and please don't think I'm disrespecting you with that comment - not my intention. I just see it with Apple and all the latest craze gadgets that come out. Sorry you're 33% less in love with your phone now.
I'm just waiting for the old nanos to drop in price with the new ones coming out this week. Maybe then I can justify the purchase of a new ipod when my shuffle still works fine.
You should contact apple about a refund. I read somewhere (slickdeals?) about people doing that.
My husband has been a loyal Apple user for the past 15 years. He just bought an ipod 6 months ago for this very reason. He gets so angry with how fast they put out a "new & improved" product. There's a new generation of ipod every 4 months. There's never a warning & most just shrug their shoulders.

I just read online that they plan to offer $100 store credit. Here's a link to the article I read:

So at least it's something to help you out.
I thought about you as soon as I heard about this! Two months is just crazy. Check into the refund- the article I read said you should be getting something in the mail about it. At least it might ease the pain. Think of it as free yarn money!
that sucks. they might lose some loyal customers from all this but they might just not care...i was about to buy a 30G ipod but now i can get the 80 for the same price. sometimes it pays to procrastinate...
That really sucks! They're constantly doing this with new technology because they know there are fans out there willing to pay the big bucks to have it first. I would look into that refund if I were you!
You can use that $100 credit for a new iBook!! Have to look on the bright side. It does suck. You still have an amazing phone that is the coolest thing on the market ; )
I bought an 80 gig IPod about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Now, it is $100 cheaper and there is one with double the storage space for the same price I paid.
Trust me when I say that I feel your pain.
