iPhone update v2.
*shortly after the post below my phone was activated. i can call out, but can't receive calls until t-mobile does there thing and cancels me. no probs there, i expected that. the phone is simply amazing. and the web isn't as slow as they made it sound. all in all, it leaves me almost speechless how cool it is. just have to see how the battery fares now.
went to pick up a car phone charger and protective case at the apple store this afternoon. they have not sold out yet. i imagine i would have had better luck there last night, but all in all it was a fun experience and i got the phone.*
well i am still waiting. i guess that at&t wasn't prepared for all the online activations and so i have had a paperweight for the last 12 hours or so. the beauty of it was that you should have been able to use the ipod etc. while waiting for your phone service - but nope. they are swamped. i've given up calling (the guy at at&t was pretty clueless, told me a few more hours, was obviously reading a script and couldn't help me with even the simplest technical question). so i'll wait it out. it just better be working before they cancel my other cell service! i am not a patient person. kind of have that veruca salt attitude "i want it now". oh well, patience is a virtue no?

I had no problems activating mine last night, at 9-10pm. Maybe trying during a non-peak hour? Just wait until you can surf the internet to your hearts content! I got myself an 8gb one from the Alderwood Mall Apple Store.
If you are switching carriers and keeping your same number, which they call number portibility there is a lag time. Your old carrier has to port you into the new carrier and this could take 48 hours our more. I can't believe they could not tell you that. And if they are fulled with new activations it might take another day. I really wanted this phone too, but i know from working in telecommunications that waiting for the reviews to come out is best on a new product like this.. let us know how it works ... :) Robin.
Oooohh, I can't wait to see it! Maybe I shouldn't I know I will want one. I must resist!! At least I have my new iMac to keep me entertained and distracted.

My husband picked his up on Saturday. We are going to activate it tonight. Although he can't do anything with the phone yet, he has fondled it about 50 times.
i would love to hear more about your iphone. i'm on the fence about it but it's also time that i change phones (i still use an old nokia and cingular/at&t won't allow me to use it anymore)
How do you talk in the phone? Do you have to use the headset. That may be a dumb question...but I watched the video on apple.com today and they only used the speaker option.
I can't decide if I want to drop the money on it...but it's so damn cool!
