sale status and beach blanket

i apologize, i have delayed the sale over at the shop blog until monday at 10 am pacific. but just a reminder that i do have 3 designs available at all times for ordering, click on the link at the right to see what i am offering currently.

ok, so on the knitting front, i pulled out an old wip (i only have 2 - i try not to keep things on the needle too long if i am not going to finish them). this one was seasonal so i put it away for the winter. this is going to be a beach blanket made out of the ball band dishcloth pattern. i have one of the 4 or 5 panels completed now and hope to cast on for the next today.

i worked out the colors last year and now of course cannot remember. but it shouldn't be too hard. i kind of wish i had used the multi-color with solid but that is ok.

and i'll be including this blurb in most of my may posts for those that didn't catch it before (although i know a lot of you did, thanks for all the wonderful comments on the last couple posts!)...

if you have been reading this blog for awhile you know that may is my blogiversary month! i'll officially hit 3 years at the end of this month. it boggles my mind. as you know, i have done some give aways in celebration and this year will be no different. i haven't worked out prizes (but duh! you know stitch markers will be involved!) but i will say that i highly encourage you to leave comments in may. i will actually be keeping track of all the comments and my contest will somehow revolve around them. so if you are a lurker i suggest you de-lurk if you want the chance at some good stuff! first contest will be on monday!

I love that ballband pattern and the beach blanket idea is great. I did that dishcloth too. Who knew a dishcloth could look so good.

I love that ballband pattern too, and i've yet to make a dishcloth using it (though that's about to change since I made my peaches and cream order the other day). That's gonna be one cute lookin beach blankie!

I never would have thought to make something as large as a beach blanket with that pattern. I'm interested to see how you add colors... your graphic design eye is so well attuned.

That sounded really strange in the re-reading. What I'm trying to say is... I tend towards traditional design. You do more contemporary stuff, and in a way that I usually really like the results (still drooling over your dandylion print), so watching what you come up with helps expand my design horizons.

That is so funny that you posted about your Beach blanket today. Just yesterday I was searching your archives looking for that project! I love it...and I'm tempted to make one too, but I have way too many projects on my needles!

Cute idea. However, I wonder if you get a cool design on your back if you lay on it for too long. ;-)

I've been lurking for quite awhile now. I love the idea of making a blanket out of the dishcloths. I think it'd be great to make a small kitchen or bathroom rug too. I love your color choices - very cute.

I was going to say that I could never knit an entire beach blanket, but I wonder how much square footage I would get if I put all my ball band dish cloths together?
haha!

Now all we need is a beach. :) Summer, where art thou?
I can't remember, are you planning on putting a backing on this, or using it as-is?

I love that. I can't stand the Ballband for washing dishes...it's too thick...great idea to use up all of my kitchen cotton making a beach blanket!

The beach blanket is great! It would be a wonderful picnic blanket as well. But the thought of all those square feet of knitting with cotton makes my hands ache... How are you finding it?

Lord help! Do the MDK girls know about you? :D That blanket is just so cute it hurts! I am totally in love with that and now want to knit one up, like I need another blanket, or another thing on the needles, but it does make me wish for more time and space. :D

You could find a multicolor that has the green and pink in it and then use that as an alternating block.

The stripe you have now:
white-pink-white-green-white

A Muti Color:
multi-white-multi-white-multi

And then alternate the two in the 5 strip repeat.
