i have made my fair share of trips to mora recently it seems. put a fabulous ice cream shop next to churchmouse yarns and it is worth the ferry ride. knowing that it would probably be some time before i go again i tried to recreate one of their flavors last week.

my attempt at what they call "tango". orange sorbet with chocolate shavings. i used this as my base recipe, although i didn't let everything chill for as long as it says. i basically made the syrup, juiced my oranges, combined the rest of the ingredients and put them in the freezer to chill.
it actually turned out wonderful. i added the shaved dark chocolate at the end. it tastes so fresh. the only thing (as with all my handmade ice creams etc) is that it is best straight out of the ice cream mixer. the freezer tends to change the texture a bit because it freezes so solid. i don't know if making the freezer less cool would work but i should probably try that. i wonder how places get their stuff to keep such a smooth texture.
anyways, i am working on gathering stuff for the "grand" prizes for the blogiversary. i have most items, but need to pick up a couple more. thanks for being patient with me. lily is still a bit mopey but doing better, it is probably the drugs making her that way and i am starting to give them in smaller doses so hopefully she'll perk up.
i should also mention there will be a small marker sale tomorrow morning on the shop blog.

That looks delicious!
SO glad Lily is doing better! I'm sorry you had to worry for her. I think you should open your own ice cream shop. It looks like you got the recipe just right!
Glad to hear Lily is doing better. That ice cream looks yummy!
Looks good! I like that cardboard pint container. I'll defintely have to try the recipe since I have an ice cream maker I don't use enough.
That does look very yummy. (and reminds me it's lunch time...).
that does it. i'm getting an ice cream maker machine thingy. i've been wanting one for awhile. it's time.
Yummy! I'm trying to avoid ice cream (diet) but I'm looking forward to making lots of low-cal smoothies this summer.
Orange and chocolate go so well together - that looks so yummy - especially on a warm day such as today.
Oh my goodness! You are so dern crafty/homemakerie (tee hee). . . .I want to be just like you some day!
I've always loved chocolate and orange together. . . .
Uhm, ice cream...it looks sooo delicious :o)
And I'm glad your Lily is doing better :o)
I'm glad Lily is doing better!
Such beautiful sorbet. I've had the same problem with my home made ice creams too. I don't know what the deal is either. I've tried different kinds of containers, topping the ice cream with wax paper or parchment paper, the works, but nothing seems to keep the fabulous creamy consistency of homemade straight out of the barrel.
I don't know how I missed this post? Or the ones about Lily? I must have been gone or getting ready to leave on my trip!??
The ice cream looks heavenly - especially here in 88 degree weather!
I hope Lilly perks up and is feeling better. Those babies mean the world to us. I know she's a love! I love how she appears in some of your photos. Oh so cute!
