old pattern, new inspiration

a week or so ago i came across this entry on domesticat's blog. something about that scarf appealed to me so much that i cast on friday night (finally another use for my sock yarn!). but it didn't end there. yesterday, while reading january one i clicked around and came across the flickr group for the lmkg chevron scarf pattern. i can't stand how amazing these are, especially the idea of combining two socks that rock colors. they are like pieces of watercolor art.

not that i haven't seen these before. both my friend jan and katy have worked on these. i guess it just takes seeing it in many different ways for it to click with me!

now if only i could find two colors i like together. i have some ideas (i have a few skeins of str to play with) but i am having a hard time parting with one of the colors i am leaning towards. i want to keep it for socks. but the scarf is calling. anyways, the skinnier scarf is the domesticat version in a skein of koigu (unknown color) and louet. the lmkg scarf is in str tidepool and watermelon tourmaline. i think i will replace the watermelon color with another - the peach is killing me. i didn't realize i had such an aversion to the color until now.

this project is very compelling. i have 2 skeins of hello yarn sock yarn that i'm thinking of using, but like you, i also want to save them. what to do what to do.

and i can't stand that peachy color either. i call it barbie doll flesh.

I started one of these scarfs a while back (it was intended for a scarf pal) and frogged it - but now after reading your entry and seeing the Flickr group I'm inspired to start again. I'm stash busting so I know I'll find the yarn for it.

Love the one on the left. I made a scarf with this pattern but I only used one color of yarn and it was just - blah. I really need to find some combo of 2 that I can put together.

I love the green and dark purple color. Almost makes me want to do another one! Although, I believe, there was a lot of complaining with the Chevron Scarf the first time around ; )

your colors are definitely inspirational. i want to buy more STR yarn now.

i'm like you. i loved that pattern since i originally saw it in the book. however, i was just inspired to make one using STR yarn also. i ordered two cool colors i'm looking forward to receiving them soon.

Hi, Amy. Lovely scarves! I love the wider version on the left and way the chevron curves more in that one too. I've found the pattern you mention, but I can't find a pattern for the design on the left. Do you know where I might find it. Thanks. Jo-Anne
