and then there were 3

i adopted 2 kitties this weekend from a local shelter. boy are they a handful! but thankfully they keep each other entertained. aren't they cute? a little hard to tell apart, but it is getting easier as time goes by. one boy, one girl, still nameless :) i was going to just get one, but knew down the road there would probably be a 2nd and apparently kittens bond better at this age. we'll see about that, they love to fight!

i present one pair of finished socks. all finished up while visiting my friend in portsmouth at the beginning of the big trip. probably around 3:30 in the morning or so since the jet lag hit pretty hard the first 2 nights. the pair i cast on for in paris is nearly complete. i should be debuting those soon.
i have a lot of projects in the works (more craft than knitting) so my time is being devoted to that for the next several days. deadlines and all you know.
more trip stuff to share as well.
ok, back to work and to check on the kitties!

Cute Kitties!! :D
They are bonding/learning/playing when they fight so all is good.
Great socks! I can't wait to see your Paris socks. :D
Such sweet kittehs. It's nice that you adopted two.
Look at those sweet faces! So cute.
Lovely socks.
Oh! They're so cute! Two cats was a great idea...they'll definitely keep each other entertained...even if they're fighting. Congrats on being a new mama!
Names...how about Knit and Purl? ;)
they are so sweet, the little kitties. i agree that 2 was a good idea. i had two -- napoleon and josephine (napoleon's 16 now -- jo passed away 6 years ago) and they got along great. too great (how soon can you have them spad/neutered? because the sooner the better, unless you want a houseful of kittens and "teenaged" cat parents).
as for names....how about "rowan" and "rebecca"?
My boy & girl cat are Darby & Quinlan (Quinn), but they often go by Frick & Frack. Don't worry, they're like siblings...the "fighting" is play to them. My kids wrestle & chase each other around the house all the time, then they lay down together & clean each other until they fall asleep. =)
So cute! I can't wait to hear more about Paris and London!
Adorable. It would be even cuter if they were playing with a yarn ball.
Which sock yarn is that?
Just when I thought I couldn't enjoy your site any more than I already do - you go and get kittens!!!!
That hardly seems sporting of you! :)
Cute!!!! They will be able to entertain each other and gang up on you too. But kittens are soo cute!!!
Oh my gosh! They are soooo adorable! How incredibly wonderful :)
Awwww! So cute!
Amy
How about Bonnie & Clyde? They are so cute!
i'm allergic to cats, and have thought about at least fostering a kitty. i figured it would be good for the kitty, and i could find out w/o a serious commitment if i can handle being around a cat.
i sure wish i could for certain, because i do love cats :)
i guess in the meantime i will have to surround myself with sheep instead.
Congrats on becoming a "mama". :) And thank you from the bottom of my heart for adopting from a shelter...you just saved two precious lives. :)
Love the socks...what yarn???
Such sweet faces! Now your condo is complete! As for names... how about Martha & Stewart? Or London & Paris in honor of your trip? Congradulations!
They are just too cute. But I know exactly what you mean, they can be a handful. While I was living with my parents a few years ago, my mom got two kittens, both of which stayed in my room. I didn't get any sleep!
Good call getting two though, they'll definitely grow up being best buddies!
I have 2 pups and they definitely keep each other entertained...most of the time! They are Brittany & Brodie, but go by Puff & Fluff or Double & Trouble on occasion. I like Merino & Silky for names.
Aw, new kitties! They are oh so cute. And they really DO look so much alike! Are they siblings?
Now they are so cute i can see why you had to adopt them both! How about Harrods and Liberty for their names :-) Was considering the option of "pastie" but that would just remind you of a rainy Sunday eating lunch in Covent Garden hahaha
I think the little girl should be called "Purl" - no idea about the little boy. They're cute, have fun with them!
Congrats! You have been wanting kittens for a long time! It should be fun keeping them away from the Christmas tree and decorations this holiday season!!

Your kittens are freaking cute! I adopted two kittens at the same time, and they are definitely bff. I'll occasionally catch them grooming each other, which is really the cutest thing ever.
Ah kitties! Such fun. When you're thinking about names, pick something that you wouldn't be embarrassed to yell around the neighborhood. I had a cat named Fluffy, and when she got out, it was a little humiliating to wander the streets yelling "Fluffy! Fluuuuuuufy!"
My pick would be Cliff and Claire Huxtable.
Awwww, congratulations!
They are definitely big time cuties! :)
Amy,
I heart you and you don't call me back.
: (
Congratulations mama! They're adorable!
They're adorable!!!
We got two (ten years ago!). They were housemates, not little mates. They're perfect company for each other while we're not home.
The only time two is (way) more than one is when you get the vet bill at their yearly checkups!
ah hello, one boy and one girl - how about derek and merideth ??? are you not a HUGE Grey's fan ?! that would be purrrrrfect.
good luck with your babies !!
oh - your kitties are so adorable! And they have that wonderfully warm sleepy kitty look to them in that photo :)
hope you had a fantastic vacation!
Ps - love the socks :D
