this and that
i am usually really good about keeping the amount of projects on the needles to a minimum. not so this weekend. i couldn't resist the call of the cotton.

thanks for the walmart tips. i made a run up there and picked up a couple balls (2nd in from the left, the top and bottom ball). they had a bunch of other colors, but i think i like sugar and cream colorways more.
then i made this.

i have already cast on for another.
i also made one of my fixation socks. it fits, but pretty snugly (i was too lazy to frog). i haven't quite decided what to do about this yet.

i love this colorway so hopefully my desire to start a pair that actually fits will win out.
a trip to joanns for some white sugar and cream also landed me this book at 40% off

i have wanted this for awhile, but my pinching pennies kept me from buying. at 40% off i couldn't resist. it really is the perfect sock book.
now i am just waiting for the sun to peek out. we don't have quite the heatwave the rest of the country is having (thank goodness!) but it is supposed to heat up to the low 90s later this week.

Your fixation sock looks great. My first one fits snugly also, but I like it that way. The great thing about these socks is that they're so stretchy they'll surely fit someone if you don't end up liking how they feel, and they're such a fast knit that you'll still be able to stitch up another pair for yourself in no time!
Pretty colors of cotton! Your sock looks really great too. Enjoy the SKS book, it's terrific, and was sooo helpful for sock-newbie me. :)
Your Cascade Fixation socks looks great. I really like the color you chose.
I also just got Sensational Knitted Socks, and it is already my favorite book. So many ways to make and personalize socks.
I am working on my first pair of socks out of Sendational Knitted Socks right now. I love the flexibility of this book! So many possibilities...
However, I can see it leading me to the purchase and hoarding of more sock yarn.
Amy, you have such lovely posts. The socks came out great! I made some longer ribbed socks out of Cascade Fixation in that same colorway, and although I haven't worn them yet because of the heat, I just adore the green. Also, where did you find the pattern for the dishcloths? I have big plans for making dishcloths for our new place.
Sensational Knitted Socks is by far our most popular sock book at the store. Great choice, and great price!
Amy
I love your cotton colors. My Joanns doesn't come close to having cute colors. You're going to love the book! I just made some Koigu socks using it--it's an awesome reference book!
Lovely kitchen cotton! I like sugar and cream colors better as well.
I just picked up Sensational Knitted Socks last weekend as well but only at 35% off, heh. I'm fairly new to sock knitting and the price had kept me from purchasing it before, but I can honestly see it's well worth the price!
I also had to pick up some Sugar 'n Cream last weekend for my Warshrag revolution! (It's on sale for $1 this week at the local Meijer; who can resist?!)
You went to Walmart!? I'll have to rethink our relationship Amy.
