crazy for kitchen cotton

my unofficial shop opening has been quite a success, thanks guys! i am working on replenishing my stock (again!) and some new designs. one of which is the pancakes that will hopefully be up soon. after working the last couple of days i do have some of everything back in stock so i am shipping within 24 hours for the most part.

i picked up another new colorway of sugar and cream at joanns last night. isn't it pretty? i wish they had a hundred more colors. i just love buying this stuff. i get to splurge on yarn, but it is only $2 a ball! my budget is getting tighter as we get closer to the big trip in october so i can't justify buying too much yarn when i have a dresser full!

so now my question is, where the heck do you buy peaches and cream in seattle? i have not seen this yarn anywhere and really want some. i looked online but didn't find an online shop with a good selection.

with all this cotton i need to start making some dishcloths. maybe august will be dishcloth month. i love making them but can't bear to use them. silly i know. maybe i will make some for gifts. we'll see.

i cast on for a pair of the fixation footies. i am halfway down the foot and totally ignoring the fact that they are too small. i can get them on, but they are stretched too much. i know i need to frog them but just don't have the heart right now. of course the other part of me that wants them and wants them now will probably be frogging this afternoon!

You can find the peaches and cream cotton in Walmart stores. The sugar and cream is actually a little bit better quality - less knots.

I used to get it at the Joann Superstore up north a bit-- across the street from the TJs on Aurora.

USE the dishcloths, my dear. They're the very best kind, and you'll smile every time you pick one up. There's a different kind of gratification in such a functional/utilitarian knitted item...and it also makes doing the dishes much more bearable.

I've been on a discloth knitting binge lately, trying to use up every last odd bit in my stash. I've got some funky looking cloths with all the random colors, but I just love them!

I think someone already mentioned this, but Peaches and Cream is at Walmart. Lion cotton is another washcloth cotton.

I am in love with Sugar n' Cream as well! A dishcloth is a great quick knit fix and a color boost! If you haven't tried it, go to http://www.jimsyldesign.com/~dishbout/kpatterns/knit3.html There are a ton of great patterns there. I don't use my dishcloths for dishes either but I do use them in the tub. They are good to wash with, feel good and slightly scrubbie on the skin. Happy knitting!

Amy I received my pea pod stitch markers today and they are adorable! I love them!

I get Peaches & Creme at my local Wal-Mart. Sometimes they're 88 cents a ball, but the everyday price is around $1.27.

if you have a hobby lobby in your
area, they usually have sugar'n
cream and at somewhat lower prices

another good source online is
herrschners online store
they also carry cones which can be
more practical

another way to find other stores
is to look under lily

hope this helps

I know you found some, but I thought I would chime in on seattle area places: joanns, michaels, ben franklin, and pacific fabrics all carry sugar and cream cotton.

can you use the Sugar and Cream yarn for socks? If so does anyone know a good pattern?

I just stumbled onto this blog while looking for some information on knitting kitchen scrubbies. What a nice page!

I'd think the sugar and cream yarn wouldn't be too comfy for socks. I don't think I'd like anything next to my feet that is good for washing up dishes. The cotton dish clothes I make aren't very "comfy" feeling.

Does anyone here know about knitting scrubbies from linen or hemp yarn?
