i tried to talk myself out of it
last night my dear friend denise (sans blog) called to tell me a lys was having a 30% off the store sale starting this morning at 10 (woolly monkey on 85th for those in seattle). we made plans to meet after i finished up with a conference call for work. i thought about it all night and into the morning. i had convinced myself not to go. i don't need more yarn. i have a few thousand dollars worth of furniture on it's way. must.stop.buying.
and then she called. and i asked too many questions. but i held my own and got off the phone with no plans to go. it took about 3 minutes for me to change my mind, call her and leave (ah the joys of working from home!).
i was pretty good. check it out.

(the book actually didn't come from the sale, but the manos is for the felted bowls in this book)

something i really didn't need, green yarn. but it was 5 bucks a ball, come on!

some chocolate cherry handpainted yarn. ahhh.
there were a couple more things but i didn't take pics yet.
oh and on the way home, i made it worse by stopping at mcdonalds and buying a shamrock shake. it only happens once a year people, i had too!
now the sale goes to 40% next week so i'll go back to see what is left. probably not much if it is like other clearance sales i have been to. this shop is in the process of being sold so the owner is clearing out inventory.
back to the grind.

The only part of your day I'll even raise an eyebrow to is the shamrock shake. I heartily approve of the yarn, on the other hand.
Great yarn choices! I LOVE Manos, and that green yarn is so pretty. And, the Claudia handpainted..... come on!!! I want that!
My hubby loves the Shamrock Shakes - it's the only time of the year he'll willingly go to McDonalds! (me, I could eat their fries every day.... but I'm weak!)
How did I miss the Shamrock shakes when I was at Micky D's today?? Dang it!!
Amy
FUN! You'll love that book. Have you seen the ONe Skein Along Blog?
MUST GET SOME OF THAT HANDPAINTED YARN. Wowza! It is gorgeous.
mmmmm...shamrock shakes! I've had two in the past week!
Man! How come I always forget about the Shamrock shakes? A trip through the McD's drive thru has just been added to my weekend plans! The yarn is gorgeous. I am in a serious yarn finance crack down so I will live vicariously through your lovely photos. Thanks;0)
Those sales are so dangerous! But it looks like you controlled yourself pretty well!
Um...you shouldn't give into peer pressure so easily Amy. I mean c'mon, maybe you should be stronger and started persuding your friend she shouldn't have gone to the yarn store either. She didn't need anymore yarn either.
i love that cherry chocolate claudia's handpainted. do you like the one skein book? i have lots of random one skeins hanging around.
Hey Amy - RE: the pug sweater...
I did start from a pattern, but it was so ridiculously stupid and horrible, I ended up winging it and doing my own thang and it worked out fine. Forward me your email address and I will send you my notes and photos for the pattern. It's way easy and quick. I started on a large size for my 1 1/2 yr old pug and his chest size is 22 in. The large might be the best size for a grown pug.

You scored lots of great finds...my fave is the chocolate cherry yarn. And now that I know the shamrock shakes are back, well, I'll be at MickeyD's soon!
I can't wait to see what you do with your manos! I have a love affair with manos.
I really should go get a Shamrock Shake. Those were my favorite when I was a kid.
wow, I was easily influenced. I read your blog, ran out, and shopped right before the store closed.
I started a collection of the mission falls superwash.
Thanks for the tip (I think)!

Did you ever see that terrible filmstrip of The Crucible in school? The most ridiculous part is when the girls all moan, "She tempts me! She tempts me! Tituba, she tempts me!" Ugh. I totally understand what they mean, but I'm not faking it. And I'm going to the Wooly Monkey at lunch time. Curses!
mmmm shamrock shake... thanks for the reminder. What a perfect day, yarn deals and something yummy to finish it off.
Hey Amy...of course you noticed those little cupcakes in the one skein book , right? Lovely yarn, I especially like the chocolate/cherry one. Have a lovely weekend!
