telecommuting
i am officially working from home now, yeah! even though we have today off, i decided to double check my remote login and run a report that i do every monday. all went well! i am excited to work from home, but i will miss the social aspect of it. i am going to have to get out more now. otherwise i might start talking to myself! (ok i already do that!)
did you all have a good new years? i really dislike the whole new years thing, but did have a nice one this year. i celebrated with my dear friend jan. i debuted my lovely new noro bag (vogue, holiday 2004 i believe). was it what you were expecting?

we made piroshky and knit. we casted on for the mrs. beeton wrist thingys from the latest knitty. UGH! kidsilk haze, beads and double point needles make for a VERY stressful cast on. we watched girly movies all night and then stepped out onto her porch to toast the new year (she has an excellent view of the space needle, but sadly the fireworks were very disappointing this year!).
i didn't check my mail until getting home that night (really morning). and i was delighted to find the yarn i had ordered recently!

it is to make the hat below from interweave (it is a free pattern).

i ordered the yarn that the pattern calls for, but the picture makes it look a bit fuzzy, and it really isn't. there is also a lot more brown in the actual yarn then what you can see in the picture. i still think i will love it!
and just to follow the trend in blogland, a recent picture of my knitting space (i move the good pillows so as not to de-fluff them).

i think maybe carry tagged me for this over a month ago!
well i am going to go take down my christmas tree and then maybe do a little furniture shopping.

Well, well, I envy you! I would love to be able to work from home. As far as socializing, I know what you mean, work is my most social get together. Of course, I do have my weekly sit n knit. Thank the Lord or I would go NUTS!
That hat is going to be awesome! It's very you. It sounds like you had an excellent new year's. I would have love knitting all night, but I was stuck in a car...
I wanted to thank you for the gift you sent for the contest. You are just the coolest! I love everything you sent! Especially your limited edition stitch markers! Very cool, thanks!
My hubby just started working from home. It is a bit of an adjustment but he really likes it. Don't forget to learn all the good working from home jokes such as having a "bunny slipper commute" and "winning the office pool" during NCAA basketball tourney. Ha ha ha, so funny :)
Lovely new yarn!
What is a dreamsicle martini? It sounds yummy!
Your new bag is beautiful. I love that color of Noro.
The dreamsicle martini sounds divine!

Your Noro bag looks great! How big is it or rather, how much does it hold? Where is the pattern from? I've never knit with Noro but my LYS just started carrying it. This looks like a project I'll have to add to my list. Good luck working from home :)
i'm very jealous about the telecommuting. i wouldn't want to do it everyday -- but once or twice a week would be awesome.
and i love the noro bag -- i've got a slew of noro stashed up -- and i have the 2004 holiday vogue....hmmmm
Happy New Year Amy! I am so envious of your new work situation. Ahh, good lunches and afternoon tea in my slippers. I hope you enjoy it! Can you knit and work at the same time? ;)
Love your bag! I was wondering what it was and I never thought it would be a bag.
That's so nice you get to telecommute - I could get used to that! The social aspect I would miss too...but after 5 years at my current job, I find myself making more of an effort to not interact with my coworkers outside of the office!
I loved that bag pattern when I first saw it in the magazine. I am lucky to see one actually made...yours turned out smashing, Amy! The colors are very pretty.
Now I cannot wait to see how the hat turns out, as now I'll probably (LIKE I ALWAYS COPY YOU! ;~) ) have to make one too, once I see how nifty-cool yours is (well, will be!).
Happy New Year!
Anjo
Wow, that is some bag. Not exactly my taste, but still way cool...how do you do that? Is that short row knitting I see? Very, very cool.
