i heart noro

so the bad news is that the pink and brown sophie was frogged the other night. i decided to do a test swatch after all and good thing i did. the color bled and the pink was no longer pink. it didn't really seem to felt either. so i decided i better save the yarn for a project that didn't require felting, or anything that would touch water.

so i did cast on for myself. the blue noro kureyon that i was dying to see. you just never know how it will stripe. i carried it with a nice light blue mohair as you can see in the second picture.

i loved the shop sample more, but i am liking this too. i am thinking tassles on this even though normally i hate tassles!

so now for the survey...i bought 2 balls of the following yarn that reminds me of peppermint sticks. i am dying to make something fun out of it! any ideas?? this was my only thought so far...but i am thinking i would want it to be something i could wear outside. someone at the stitch n bitch last week had made the booties though and they WERE cute!

fyi it is rowan big wool. let me know if you have any super ideas!!

I love the peppermint colors of that big wool! Sorry to say I can't really think of anything fun to make out of it though. Those booties were cute but I'd wonder about the practicality of them. Like you said, you want to where them outside. I'd probably go for a fun, funky hat or mittens.

Love the scarf too, it looks great!

Oh, that is some great minty yarn! I don't know what the yardage is like on a skein of big wool, but how about a neck-warmer? Sort of like the turtleneck without the rest of the sweater attached. There's a pattern at Needle Beetle. Not affiliated, just a fan.

You gotta love the expression on the models' faces!

The Noro scarf is lovely--the variegation of the colors is simply amazing. I have not worked with it before... I think I need to soon!

Lovin' the Big Wool too--anything with those colors always gets my vote!

Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

What did you end up doing with your yarn? I have two balls of the same yarn and do not know what to do with it either. I originally bought it to make a scarf for my mother in-law, but she later decided she'd like something else. So now I'm lost. Maybe a hat? Maybe mitties?
